How to propagate coral

Reproduction method

As such a versatile plant, let us learn how to propagate it. There are two methods of reproduction: one is sowing reproduction and the other is cutting reproduction.

Seed propagation

The most suitable time is March to April. Collect its mature seeds in winter, rub them clean, dry them naturally, and spread them evenly in the flowerpots before April of the following year. Cover them with a thin layer of soil, then water the soil thoroughly. Cover it with a layer of film to keep the soil moist. In this way, new sprouts can be sprouted in as fast as a week. After the new sprouts slowly grow new leaves, they can be cultivated in separate pots.

Cutting propagation

The best time to do this is spring and autumn. During its growing season, select healthy and plump fleshy stems, cut them, and dry them naturally for 1 to 2 days, then select sandy soil for cuttings. After cuttings, keep the soil moist, but not too wet. This will make it easier to grow new roots.

If you choose summer for cuttings, the survival rate will be higher than in spring and autumn. If the temperature is kept between 18 and 28 degrees Celsius, it will survive in about 10 days.

If you want to enjoy the bright red fruits of the coral reef, you should choose to take cuttings in autumn, so that you can see the abundant fruits in winter.

The swell coral likes warm sunshine and a dry environment. It is extremely resistant to drought and semi-shade conditions, but is very intolerant to cold and does not like humidity. It has no dormancy period throughout the year.
