Diseases and Pests of Lilac and Their Control

Common diseases of lilac

There are two common diseases of lilac: brown spot and sooty mold.

Brown spot

It usually occurs in early to mid-June. Prevention and control methods: Spray with 1000 times diluted 75% Benomyl wettable granules or 400 times diluted 70% Mancozeb wettable granules. Spraying once a week for three to four weeks can effectively control the disease.

Soil pollution

The outbreak occurs in early July or mid-to-late August. Prevention and control methods: Use 3000 times diluted 43% Horlicks or 800 times diluted 75% Benomyl wettable granules, spray once every seven days. Spray three or four times in a row, and you will see improvement in the disease.

Common pests of lilac

Common pests of lilac are red spider mites and leafcutter bees.

Red Spider

If red spider mites are found, they can be killed with 1500 times diluted 0.36% matrine aqueous solution.

Leafcutter bee

If leafcutter bees occur, you can use 1000 times diluted 20% insecticide to spray for prevention and control, or you can kill them manually.
