The "single-pole" phenomenon of rubber trees and its treatment

The single-stem phenomenon of rubber trees

When cultivating rubber trees, because the apical dominance of rubber trees is relatively strong, the trunk will generally grow taller. If it is not pruned, the terminal buds will continue to germinate, while the axillary buds will not grow for a long time, and the trunk will grow into a single branch, becoming a thin and tall single stem, which is very ugly.

In order to avoid this phenomenon, we need to treat the rubber tree to prevent it from growing too tall.

How to deal with the single stem of a rubber tree

First of all, we must pay attention to water and fertilizer when growing rubber trees. Rubber trees like plenty of water and fertilizer, but not too much water and fertilizer, otherwise they will easily grow too tall, and the main branch will grow taller and taller, becoming a single stem. When watering, pay attention to watering when the soil is dry and wet, and be careful not to make it too dry. In winter, pay attention to controlling the amount of water and fertilizer. It is better to apply fertilizer to meet the needs, but not too much or too concentrated, as both will be detrimental to the growth of the rubber tree.

The second is pruning. Generally, the rubber tree grown by cuttings can be pruned back when it grows to a certain height. After pruning, it will usually sprout several side branches, usually 3 to 5 is good. If there are too many, the excess ones should be cut off. When the side branches grow to a certain height, they can be pruned back, and then they can be appropriately retained after they grow out.

After that, you must pay attention to pruning it every year, cutting off branches that are not useful for growth and viewing to keep the tree in good shape.
