Seed propagation of truncatum

Seed collection of truncatum

In mid-to-late September, the fruits are picked in time after they turn black and soften. Select plants with strong growth, round crown, about 20 years old and free of diseases and insect pests for seed collection. After the fruit is picked, remove impurities from the fruit and place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry naturally. Do not stack it too thickly and turn it over frequently to prevent the fruit from getting moldy and spoiling.

Seed treatment of Amaranthus pubescens

The seeds need to be processed before sowing in spring. Soak them in clean water for 2 days first, wait until the peel is softened, then take them out and crush them with a roller, but do not crush the seed core. After removing the oil from the core, add twice the amount of river sand to the core and mix it, then crush it again. After the pink seed shell is exposed, wash it.

The crushed seeds also need to be germinated. Put the seeds in warm water for germination 20 days before sowing. Soak the seeds in warm water at about 50℃ 2 to 3 times a day, half an hour each time. After cooling, take out and cover with wet straw mats. When more than half of the seeds are exposed, they can be sown.

How to sow the seeds of the tung tree

The soil should be well-drained, preferably sandy loam, and the soil should be disinfected before sowing. After sowing, cover with 2 cm of soil and press lightly with your hands. Then water it once, remember to water it thoroughly. Keep the soil moist and remove weeds in time. The seedlings can be transplanted when they grow to 10 cm.
