The jasmine in his house is so abundant, fragrant and white, and this is how he grows it!

The jasmine in his house is so abundant, fragrant and white, and this is how he grows it!

1. How to care for jasmine

1. Adequate lighting

Jasmine likes hot, humid, ventilated and breathable environment and needs sufficient light. If the light is strong, the branches and trunk will be strong, the leaves will be dark green, and the flowers will be numerous and fragrant. If the sunlight is insufficient, the nodes will be sparse, the flowers will be few and not fragrant. In summer, more than 5 hours of sunlight are needed every day to ensure lush flowers.

2. Reasonable watering

Jasmine is not drought-tolerant, but it also avoids waterlogging. When it rains, the potted jasmine should be moved to a sheltered place, and the accumulated water in the pot should be dumped out in time after the rain, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow easily. On hot and sunny days in summer, water the plant twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. If you find the leaves curling, spray water on them in time to promote growth. Do not spray water on the flowers during the flowering period to prevent premature flower drop and loss of fragrance.

3. Suitable soil

The soil for growing jasmine should be fertile sandy and semi-sandy soil. If planted in slightly acidic soil with a pH value of 6 to 6.5, the roots will be dense and the growth will be vigorous. If the soil is heavy and lacks a substrate, the fertility will be low and the aeration will be poor, then the root system will be small, the plant will be short, the stems and leaves will be thin, and the flowers will be few and small.

4 Reasonable fertilization

The high temperature season in midsummer is the peak period for jasmine growth. Apply more organic fertilizers and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, such as peanut cake powder, bone meal, superphosphate and multi-element flower fertilizer, twice a month.

2. How to repot jasmine

Jasmine grows vigorously in summer. The plant grows faster under sufficient sunlight. When the roots cover the entire pot, change the pot in time. So how do you change the pot for jasmine?

1. First prepare a large pot to be replaced, and place water-permeable and breathable tiles and coarse-grained soil at the bottom of the pot.

2. Jasmine likes loose and breathable soil. You can choose 2 parts of leaf mold, 2 parts of peat soil, 4 parts of sandy loam, and 2 parts of river sand, and then add an appropriate amount of decomposed bean cake or sesame oil residue powder. After stirring thoroughly, you can put it in a pot and use it.

3. Take the jasmine out of the pot and remove some of the soil around the roots.

4. Place the plant in a large pot and fill the prepared sandy loam around the soil ball. After filling the soil, compact it so that the roots fit closely with it.

5. Water thoroughly, then cut off the diseased and weak branches, place it in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance for three or four days, and then place it under sufficient light for normal maintenance.

Notice:

1. Don't rush to fertilize after repotting. Just keep the soil moist during the jasmine's recovery period.

2. When the pruned branches sprout new buds and produce flower buds, apply decomposed liquid fertilizer mixed with water. It is best to apply thin fertilizer frequently.

3. How to propagate jasmine

1. Select cuttings

Select semi-lignified jasmine branches that are growing healthily.

2. Prune the cuttings

Prune the branches, cut flat on the top and diagonally on the bottom to form a horseshoe shape. At the same time, the leaves of jasmine should be cut in half to reduce water evaporation.

3. Cuttings

After cleaning and disinfecting the river sand, put it into the prepared cutting container and level the river sand in the pot. Then plant the processed cuttings into river sand.

4. Watering

After everything is planted, remember to water it thoroughly.

5. Maintenance

The cutting sand pot is placed on a ventilated balcony flower stand. The cuttings should be avoided from direct sunlight, but can accept scattered light~ so placing them in a cool place is a good choice.

6. Upper basin

After the cuttings grow vigorously, they can be potted. First, prepare the flower pots and loose sandy loam. Then dig out the rooted jasmine seedlings from the cutting medium.

Place the jasmine seedlings in the prepared flowerpot, making sure the roots are evenly spread out on the soil and cannot curl or bend.

Add the prepared loose sandy loam to the flowerpot with the jasmine seedlings.

Compact the sandy loam soil you added to the pot.

After compacting the loam, water the roots and make sure to water thoroughly.

After watering to establish roots, prune the branches to help the seedlings survive.

After watering thoroughly, place it outdoors in a well-ventilated place that is not exposed to direct sunlight for 3 to 5 days. If there is no abnormality with the seedlings, they can be bathed in sunlight. The photosynthesis of the sun can promote the growth of the seedlings.

Do not apply fertilizer during the growth of seedlings to prevent the fertilizer from corroding the root system. Liquid fertilizer diluted with water can only be applied after the sprouting new buds have produced flower buds.

4. How to prune jasmine

1. Pruning during flowering period:

After jasmine has finished blooming, cut off the remaining flowers in time. When cutting the remaining flowers, you can cut them below the branch where the flowers are located, leaving three or five small nodes on the branch. This can promote the germination of side branches and the differentiation of more flower buds.

Prune dead branches

2. Pruning during the growing season:

During the growth process of jasmine, you can cut off the overgrown branches at any time, and the diseased and insect-infested branches should also be cleaned up in time to avoid infection. When the branches are too dense, they must be pruned and thinned out in time.
