5 ways to propagate green radish, one of which can make it climb all over the wall

5 ways to propagate green radish, one of which can make it climb all over the wall

Method 1 of cuttings of green radish

Prepare the Materials

The first method of cuttings that Huahua is going to introduce is the most commonly used method, the hydroponic method. The tools you need to prepare are also very simple:

1 pot of green radish, 1 pair of scissors, 1 hydroponic glass bottle

Cutting process

1. Select cuttings

When using green radish for hydroponics, you can choose branches with aerial roots, which will quickly take root and keep the branches active. Aerial roots are shown in the figure below:

2. Cut the cuttings

The cuttings should not be too long, about 10 to 15 centimeters will be enough, and the cut should be cut at a 45-degree angle to increase the water absorption area.

3. Insert the hydroponic container

After placing the cuttings into the hydroponic container, immediately add water to cover one-third to two-thirds of the branches. In order to accelerate rooting, you can also crush aspirin and dilute it fifty times and add it to the water to promote rooting.

Points to note

Before the green radish takes root, change the water every two or three days, clean the walls of the glass bottle, and do not add nutrient solution. After the roots of the green radish grow out, you can extend the water change time appropriately and add hydroponic nutrient solution once every half a month. However, when the weather is hot, it is better to use clear water for hydroponics.

Method 2 of cuttings of green radish

Prepare the Materials

The method Huahua will introduce next is also a method that everyone often uses, the soil culture method. We need to prepare the following materials:

1 pot of green radish with semi-lignified branches;

1 pair of scissors;

1 flower pot;

Substrate: Chlorophytum likes loose, breathable and well-drained soil, so Huahua recommends that you use vermiculite, or a mixture of sandy soil and perlite.

Cutting process

1. Cut the cuttings

Use scissors to cut semi-lignified green radish branches, about 10 cm in length, and cut them into 45-degree oblique cuts at the bottom. It is best if each cutting has aerial roots, as shown in the figure below.

2. Cuttings processing

After cutting the cuttings, remove the bottom leaves to make it easier to insert them into the soil. The upper leaves can also be cut off by half to reduce water evaporation and increase the survival rate.

3. Cutting method

If you have rooting powder at home, you can treat the branches with it first. If you don’t have it, you can directly insert the branches into the prepared substrate, the depth is about one-half of the branches, water them thoroughly, and place them in a cool and ventilated place.

Points to note

After cuttings, the soil humidity of the green radish should be maintained at a high level to prevent it from being exposed to the sun. If the air is too dry, you can cover the flowerpot with a film. The green radish will take root in about 20 days, and you can remove the film. After another half a month, you can maintain it normally.

Method 3 of cuttings of green radish

Prepare the Materials

The method introduced by Huahua below is somewhat similar to the second method, but it is easier to propagate by cuttings. The materials you need to prepare are:

A semi-lignified branch of Pothos;

1 flowerpot, appropriate amount of cutting medium (vermiculite perlite sandy soil);

1 pair of scissors;

Cutting process

1. Use scissors to cut off all the leaves on the branches of the green radish, and then cut the branches short, with one node at each section, about two or three centimeters in length, as shown in the figure below:

2. Cut the shortened branches into the prepared substrate, burying most of the length.

3. Water thoroughly and place it in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance.

Points to note

The soil in the pot can only be kept moist, but there should be no stagnant water, otherwise the branches will easily rot. After a period of time, small buds will grow out of the soil and soon the pot will be full of life.

Method 4 of cuttings of green radish

Prepare the Materials

In addition to the cutting method introduced above, we can also lay the green radish branches flat in the flowerpot, which is also very simple. The materials needed are the same as those in method three.

Cutting process

1. Follow the steps in method three, process the branches of the green radish, and then lay them flat on the substrate.

2. Cover with soil, water thoroughly, then cover the flowerpot with film to keep it moist, and place it in a place with scattered light.

3. Open the film for ventilation every day, observe the dryness and wetness of the soil, and replenish water in time when it is lacking water. After a period of time, the green ivy will sprout new buds. Remove the film and you can maintain it normally.

Points to note

Likewise, there can’t be too much moisture, otherwise it will easily rot.

Method 5 of cuttings of green radish

Prepare the Materials

The method that Huahua introduces next may not be tried by many people, but it is also super simple~

1 pot of healthy growing green radish;

A sponge;

A pair of scissors;

Cutting process

1. Cut strong green radish branches, make sure they are free of diseases and pests, and have a growth point on each node.

2. Use scissors to poke a few holes on the sponge matrix, and then insert the green radish cuttings into the sponge matrix, two or three centimeters deep. After that, soak the sponge in water to allow the sponge to fully absorb water.

3. After cuttings, always keep the sponge moist. This is easy to observe. If it is short of water, replenish water in time. You will see white roots in about a month.

Points to note

During the process of cuttings, do not apply fertilizer or add nutrient solution. Place them in a cool and ventilated place, and spray them with water more often when the air is dry.
