Fertilization method of Alstroemeria

Fertilization method of Alstroemeria

Fertilization of Alstroemeria during the planting period

The fertilization of Alstroemeria should be done according to different periods. During the planting period, some decomposed organic fertilizer should be applied according to the soil conditions, and an appropriate amount of superphosphate can be added to it. The basic fertilizer formed in this way is sufficient to meet the initial growth of alstroemeria.

Fertilization of Alstroemeria in the early growth stage

After transplanting and before the lateral buds sprout, there is no need to apply special fertilizer, because the root system can adjust and recover by itself after transplanting, and the basal fertilizer in the soil can meet its basic nutritional needs. If improper fertilizer is applied during this period, it will damage the root system and affect growth. Therefore, do not apply fertilizer indiscriminately or too much fertilizer during this period.

Fertilization of Alstroemeria during its vigorous growth period

During this period, the rhizomes extend and grow, and the latent buds on the rhizomes also sprout in large numbers. At this time, the external conditions are very suitable for the differentiation of flower buds, and the plant will slowly enter the flowering period. At the beginning of this period, nitrogen fertilizers such as ammonium sulfate or urea can be applied once to meet its nutrition. In addition, fertilizer should be applied every 2-3 weeks during the peak flowering period. Urea, potassium nitrate or ammonium sulfate is the best fertilizer to choose.

Fertilization of Alstroemeria in Semi-dormant Period

Due to the high temperature and strong light in summer, the growth of the plant is restricted, so it enters a semi-dormant state. The flower production of six-petaled flowers will drop significantly during the semi-dormant period. At this time, the number of fertilizations should be reduced. If managed properly, the plant will resume growth after the weather turns cooler.

The above is the method of fertilizing Alstroemeria. Have you learned it?
