Breeding methods and precautions of Guangdong Evergreen

Guangdong Dieffenbachia is famous for its broad, shiny leaves and evergreen all year round. Its stem nodes are like bamboo, its stem is upright, and its leaf scars are obvious. It is not only extremely shade-tolerant, but also has extremely strong growth potential. It is not picky about soil and can thrive even in ordinary fertile garden soil. It is a popular indoor foliage plant. Let’s learn together about the cultivation methods and precautions of Guangdong Evergreen .

1. Suitable lighting

Guangdong evergreen prefers a warm and humid environment. It is also very shade-tolerant and suitable for growing in places with weak light indoors. They are afraid of strong direct sunlight, especially in summer, and should be avoided from exposure to the sun. In spring and autumn, it can receive soft sunlight in the morning and evening to promote photosynthesis.

2. Reasonable water control

In winter, the frequency of watering should be reduced appropriately and the soil in the pot should be kept slightly dry, which will help improve the plant's ability to resist cold. But at the same time, it should be noted that too dry soil will cause the leaves to turn yellow, so it is necessary to adjust in time to maintain appropriate humidity.

3. Water regularly

During the active growing season, keep the soil constantly moist. During the high temperatures in summer, in addition to daily watering, you should also spray water twice a day to increase the air humidity, lower the temperature, and clean the dust on the leaves.

4. Apply fertilizer at the right time

During the growing season from May to October, applying diluted cake fertilizer water once every half month will help keep the leaves green and shiny. If hydroponics is used, a small amount of long-lasting fertilizer tablets or compound fertilizer can be placed in the container to meet the nutritional needs of the plants.

5. Pruning and shaping

The stem buds of Guangdong Evergreen are strong. Regular pruning can promote the branching of the plant, making the plant shape more compact and beautiful. For stems that are too tall or have poor shape, pruning can be used to stimulate the germination of axillary buds. As long as the cut branches are of moderate maturity, they can be used for cutting propagation.

6. Cutting propagation

Guangdong Evergreen can be propagated by division or cuttings throughout the year, but the best time is from June to July. When cutting, choose stem segments with 1 to 3 nodes, apply wood ash on the cut, insert them into sandy or soil media, and pay attention to shade and moisture retention. It will take root in about half a month. Water cuttings are also a simple and easy method of propagation.

Through these meticulous maintenance measures, Guangdong Evergreen can not only maintain its beautiful shape, but also thrive in indoor environments, adding a touch of fresh green to life.
