Strawberry Seed Germination

When sowing strawberries, the first thing to do is to germinate them. The purpose of germination is to increase the germination rate of the seeds.

Before sowing strawberries, wrap the seeds in gauze and soak them for about 24 hours. Then put them in the refrigerator and keep the temperature at around 0℃. Treat them at low temperature for about 15 days. The germination rate will be higher if the seeds' dormancy period is broken before sowing.

Or you can directly pour the strawberry seeds into warm water at about 50℃, soak them for a while and stir them constantly. When the water temperature slowly drops, you need to continue soaking. After that, you can take it out and rub it gently until the surface of the seed becomes clean. Then wrap the seeds with gauze and keep the temperature between 25℃ and 30℃ and keep them moist.

Strawberry seed sowing method

Strawberry seeds are actually quite small. When sowing, you should choose a seedling pot or seedling box and add some culture soil, or choose a flower pot and put fine sand mixed with humus in the pot.

Before sowing, you can spray the soil with water, making sure it is sprayed thoroughly, and then sow the seeds into it. After sowing the seeds, you can cover them with a layer of fine soil, with a thickness of 1mm. You can also cover them with a layer of plastic film without covering them with soil, and then keep the soil moist.

Basically, if the temperature is maintained at 25℃, strawberries will germinate about 25 days after sowing. When the strawberry seedlings grow two true leaves, they can be transplanted, and when they grow five leaves, they can be planted out.

Strawberry planting care

First of all, when watering the strawberry seedlings, do not flood them with water. Generally, spraying water will be enough. When the seedlings grow about 6 leaves, you can start applying fertilizer.

The second step is transplanting, which is usually done when the seedlings are about 3 months old.
