How to grow long beans for high yield

1. Planting time

Long beans like warmth but are not cold-resistant. The lowest germination temperature of seeds is 10-12℃. Therefore, according to its habits, it is best to sow them in spring from April to May. They must not be planted too early, otherwise if the temperature is too low, the long beans will germinate slowly and the germination rate will also be reduced.

2. Site selection and land preparation

When planting long beans, it is best to choose a plot with deep soil, loose and fertile soil, and convenient drainage and irrigation. Be careful not to plant it continuously, and other varieties of beans should not be planted within 100 meters around. After selecting a plot, you must first prepare the land, and then apply decomposed organic fertilizer to improve soil fertility.

3. Seeding and planting

Before planting long beans, it is best to place the seeds in the sun for 1-2 days, then soak the seeds in warm water at 30℃ for 5-6 hours. After the seeds have absorbed enough water, plant the seeds in the soil. The sowing depth is 3-4 cm.

4. Maintenance and management

After planting the long beans, they need to be properly cared for and managed. At this time, they need to be watered once to keep the soil slightly moist. When the long beans have two pairs of true leaves, they should be thinned out in time and some weak and diseased seedlings should be removed. Thin fertilizers should be applied frequently during the growth period of the long beans. When it grows 5-6 true leaves, a trellis should be set up in time to guide the vines.
