How to prune Verbena

How to prune Verbena

The need for pruning and topping of Verbena

Verbena is a beautiful flowering plant, but much of its beauty depends on pinching and pruning during its growth period. By pinching, you can prevent the petunia from growing too tall, and make it have more branches and a fuller plant shape. Pruning mainly involves pruning the branches of the petunia, modifying them appropriately, and making the plant shape more beautiful.

How to pinch the top of Verbena

Before the petunia blooms, it should be topped at least twice to encourage it to grow more flowering branches. Generally, after the petunia has grown enough to grow after potting, or when the petunia seedlings grow to about 10 cm and have more than 6 leaves, you can pinch the top of the plant and only keep the 4 leaves in the lower part. Then after a month, the petunia plant has grown to a certain stage and side branches have also grown. At this time, you can cut off the top part of the side branch and keep the 4 leaves below the side branch.

After these two pinchings, the petunia will grow more branches and bloom more flowers.

How to prune Verbena

Pruning is one of the main operations performed on Verbena in daily life.

Generally, when cultivating petunias, it is necessary to prune the old and yellow leaves or branches of the petunias every two months, and cut off those parts that affect the appearance, so that the plant maintains a perfect shape and is more ornamental. This is also very good for the flowering of verbena.
