How to grow potted osmanthus in winter

How to grow potted osmanthus in winter

Watering method

In winter, the issue of watering osmanthus cannot be ignored. Generally, the potting soil should be kept moist to promote flowering. But during the flowering period, do not water too much to prevent the flowers from falling. On rainy days, the soil should be drained promptly to prevent root rot. It is advisable to keep the moisture content of the potting soil at around 50%. Before bringing the plant indoors for winter, it should be watered thoroughly. During maintenance, water it once every 10 days at noon on a sunny day, but the water temperature should be close to the room temperature.

Lighting requirements

Light also plays a very important role in the maintenance of winter osmanthus. During the winter, if the temperature is below 4 degrees and the light is insufficient, it will easily lead to early spring leaf fall and affect flowering next year.

Maintenance

The slightest mistake will make all the careful maintenance go to waste. >

Guaranteed temperature

It should be placed in a greenhouse with a temperature preferably below 3 degrees Celsius. Osmanthus should also be placed in a place with relatively stable air, avoiding being exposed to cold air in air-circulating places such as doorways and aisles.

Do a good job of bagging

Bagging should not be done too early, and it can only be started when the minimum temperature reaches around minus 5 degrees Celsius. When the weather is warm and windless, you can open the bag to let in sunlight and ventilation. In the spring when the temperature gradually rises, we can open the bag to allow the osmanthus to adapt to the external environment. When the temperature stabilizes, we can remove the bag.

After the above careful cultivation and maintenance, our potted osmanthus will grow better!
