Can eggplant be grown in pots?

Eggplant can be grown in potted plants. Generally, you need to use pots with good air permeability. You also need to provide the eggplant with soil that is rich in organic matter and has good drainage. If you want to sell in bulk, you can choose to plant it in the ground. If you don’t have this idea, there is no need to plant it in the ground.

If you want to grow eggplants in pots, if you want to grow one eggplant in one pot, you can use a pot with a diameter of about 20 cm. If you want to grow multiple eggplants, you can use a larger pot. A large pot can be used to sow 3 to 4 seeds. If you take good care of it, it will bear fruit in the same year.

Eggplant pot cultivation method

1. Soil preparation

Eggplant is suitable for acidic soil. Eggplant has a wide adaptability to soil, and the pH value of the suitable soil acidity is 5.8-7.4. It likes fertile land with high organic matter content and good air permeability, and can grow in both low-carbon and clay soils.

2. Pruning

The leaves of eggplant need to be pruned during the growing season. Some old, diseased and yellow leaves need to be removed in batches. The branches also need to be pruned, and some side branches that are not conducive to eggplant fruiting need to be removed.

3. Watering

Moist soil is indispensable for its growth. If the soil is moist, the eggplant will grow more vigorously. At the same time, if there is not enough water, it will also affect the normal fruiting of the eggplant. Therefore, in summer, it is necessary to water it thoroughly so that it can fully absorb it.

4. Fertilization

Eggplants do not have high requirements for fertilizers. Before planting, you can apply some animal manure as base fertilizer, and then apply some compound fertilizer or organic fertilizer before harvesting, which can make the fruit fuller and the yield will naturally increase.

5. Lighting

It needs full sunlight. It will grow perfectly under sufficient light and can also promote the germination of flower buds, which can increase the yield in disguise. In summer, there is no need to shade it and allow it to absorb enough light.
