How to prune lily bamboo

Pruning purpose

The main purpose of pruning lily bamboo that is one year old or older is to adjust the flower shape, remove diseased and weak branches, increase its tillering, promote the growth of more branches, and properly manage its growth to make its crown more beautiful.

Pruning methods

Two weeks before you decide to prune the lily bamboo, water it normally and apply fertilizer to the shallow layer of the potting soil.

Then carefully observe the entire crown of the lily bamboo and determine the branches to be pruned. Generally, choose branches that have a difference in growth from other branches, have weak leaves at the top, and have grown slowly in the past month, which will affect the overall shape of the crown.

The specific operation method is: use scissors to cut it six to eight centimeters away from the branch. After cutting, wrap the cut edge with tape to seal it. The purpose of this is to prevent water loss and avoid damage to the plant. Then use plastic rope to fix, pull and shape the entire crown of the tree. Be careful not to damage the plant. Finally, move the flower pot to a place without direct sunlight, and wait until the paper-cut wound is dry before placing it in its regular position for maintenance.

Pest control

Lily bamboo has relatively few diseases and pests, leaf spot is its main disease. Flower lovers often cause lily bamboo to be attacked by red spider mites due to dry air or other flowers and plants during home care. At this time, you can rinse it with large amounts of water several times, or directly spray pesticides for prevention and control.

Lily bamboo is relatively resistant to pruning, so flower lovers should not be afraid of pruning it too badly during the pruning process. As long as the method is correct, you can prune out very beautiful lily bamboo.
