How to propagate figs by cuttings

How to propagate figs by cuttings

1. Cutting method

1. Pruning branches: In December, select healthier and thicker branches for pruning. The cut branches should be about 10 cm long and have 4 small buds left on them. Don't rush to plant cuttings after cutting the branches. Bury them in slightly moist sand for about three months before planting.

2. Processing of branches: If you choose to directly propagate by cuttings, you can soak the cut branches in the rooting water you made for about 12 hours, then take out the branches and place them in a place with good air circulation to dry. Wait until the water of the plant is almost lost before carrying out cuttings. This will speed up the growth of roots in the branches.

3. Cutting: Insert the prepared branches into the soil, but not too much, about half of the branch is enough. Press the soil next to the branch with your hands and then give the plant some water, so that the soil in the pot has some moisture to supply the plant.

4. Keep warm: After the cuttings are completed, place the plant in a place with smooth air circulation and cover the branches with a plastic bag. This will not only provide it with a warmer environment, but also help the plant block the stronger sunlight. Remember to cut a few small holes in the plastic bag to allow air circulation. After the branches grow roots, the plastic bag will no longer be needed.

2. Precautions

After the cuttings are completed, the plants should be placed in a place with smooth air circulation, and remember to cut a few small holes in the plastic bag covering the plants.
