How to get seeds from cactus

How to get seeds from cactus

Step 1: Collect the seed packets

When collecting cactus seed packets, look for mature seed packets, preferably those that have cracked.

Such seed packets will reveal black seeds, which is also a sign that the seeds are ripe.

Step 2: Take out the seed scoop from the seed packet

If you want to remove the seeds from the seed packet, you must first carefully use tweezers to remove the thorns growing on the seed pods. Of course, some cactus seed pods do not have thorns, so this step can be skipped.

Then open the seed pod from the middle, take out the seed pulp and place it on the stockings. Of course, the stockings have been prepared in advance.

Just follow this instruction to take out all the seeds from the seed scoop. Remember not to mix bad seeds and unripe seeds with good seeds. You can place them separately or throw them away, so pick them out one by one from the seed scoop.

Step 3: Take it off and tie up the stockings

After taking out all the seed pulp, close the stockings and do not leave the opening exposed to the air, as this will cause the seeds to quickly lose moisture and become shriveled.

Step 4: Soak

After wrapping the stockings, immediately knead them gently in clean water with your hands;

This is done to wash away the seed pulp and separate the seeds from the inside. The washed seeds should be placed in the sun to dry. After drying, they can be stored or planted directly.
