How to grow onions quickly in pots

How can I plant onions so that they grow fast? In spring and summer, I often see people planting several boxes of onions in foam boxes, others planting the leftover onions in vegetable pots, and others planting them in a pile of soil. In short, onions are very easy to plant. They can survive as long as they are in the soil. There are many ways to plant them.

If you want to eat spring onions early, you can start growing seedlings indoors after the beginning of spring. This way, they will grow taller and can be eaten slowly in April.

1. Seedling cultivation

The shell of onion seeds is hard. If the room temperature is not reached during the seedling period, it will delay the emergence time. It is best to soak the seeds in clean water for 12 hours before shallow sowing. You can sow them in holes or broadcast them. The seeds can be 2 cm away from the soil surface.

Cover with plastic wrap to keep the soil surface moist, and place in a well-lit location to wait for the seedlings to emerge. After the seedlings emerge, they can be divided into pots and planted when they grow to 20 cm.

2. Direct planting of onion seedlings

In spring and summer, you can also buy some onion seedlings at the vegetable market and plant them directly. If you want the onion whites to grow longer, add some organic fertilizer to increase the fertility. Continue to cultivate the soil in the later stage, and you can harvest them in autumn.

If you take leaf mold as you eat it, it will allow the green onions to grow normally.

3. Proper watering

In order to make the green onions grow faster, you should also pay attention to soiling and watering. In summer, when the sun is abundant and the temperature is high, the soil is easy to become hardened and lack water, which can easily cause the green onion leaves to turn yellow and grow slowly. Watering once a week can prevent the yellow tip phenomenon.

Scallions can enhance flavor and increase appetite. It is convenient to just plant some in your own vegetable pot. They can also act as an insect repellent when placed near other vegetable pots.

I also like to grow some green onions at home. Some are grown from onion seedlings, and some are bought in bundles and planted directly. They will grow into seedlings after a dozen days.
