Feed Clivia some of this, and it will bloom every year without fertilizer

Do not fertilize during flowering period

Never apply fertilizer during the flowering period. Once fertilizer is applied, the nutrients absorbed by the Clivia will increase, which will accelerate the withering of the flowers, preparing for the Clivia to bear fruit.

Throw some of this after it blooms

After flowering, the Clivia consumes a lot of nutrients and becomes weak, urgently needing nutrient replenishment, but giving too much fertilizer at one time will burn the roots.

After flowering, if the temperature is still below 30℃, use light fertilizer water instead of clean water for watering. Light fertilizer water is easy to adjust. The water used to soak soybeans, rice washing water, bean cake water, etc. at home can all be fermented and then used to water the flowers.

After one month, you can add some thin fertilizer. It is best to use organic fertilizer, which can be fermented chicken manure, or you can smash and boil your own moldy peanuts, beans, sesame seeds, castor beans, etc., put them in a small bottle, fill it with water, seal it and put it in the sun to decompose. The higher the temperature, the faster the fermentation. In summer, you can take out the upper clear liquid and use it in about 10 days!

Be careful in summer heat

If the temperature reaches above 25℃ in summer, do not add feed to the Clivia as it may easily burn the roots. If the temperature remains below 25℃, you can apply self-rotted liquid fertilizer every half a month or a month. Note that it should be a very light liquid fertilizer!

Adding materials when changing pots

Spring and autumn are good times to repot Clivia, because at this time Clivia grows vigorously and it is easier for it to adapt to the pot.

When repotting, be sure to add something to the bottom of the pot, which can be slow-release fertilizer, fully fermented chicken manure, melon seeds, peanuts and other oil-containing dried fruits, fried hemp seeds, etc.

Fertilization during the growing season

In spring, it is advisable to apply some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, such as fish meal, bone meal, sesame cake, etc., which are beneficial to the formation of leaf veins and improve the gloss of leaves.

In autumn, it is advisable to apply some extract of decomposed animal hair, horns, hooves or bean cakes, dilute it with 30-40 times clean water, and then apply it to promote leaf growth.

Many flower lovers believe that the temperature is low in winter and Clivia should not be fertilized. Huahua thinks this is a generalization. For flower lovers in the north who have heating and those living very far south, the indoor temperature in winter is at least around 15 or 16 degrees, which is just right for the growth of Clivia.

For flower lovers in areas where there is no heating and the lowest temperature can drop below 10℃, they should stop fertilizing.

Before flowering

Before flowering, it is necessary to apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Fish and shrimp shells, bone meal, decomposed fish intestine water, etc. are rich in phosphorus and potassium fertilizers and can be used.

In addition, you can spray the Clivia with potassium dihydrogen phosphate before flowering, or dilute the potassium dihydrogen phosphate with water according to the instructions and directly irrigate the roots.
