Water lilies have a long history of cultivation in China. Many people like to grow a pot of water lilies. In the summer, watching the lotus and water complement each other has high ornamental value. Regarding water lily planting, do you know how deep the water should be to plant it? Let’s learn more about it below. How deep should water lilies be planted? Water lilies need water areas of sufficient depth to grow. The water depth suitable for the growth of water lilies should be controlled at 25~30cm. If miniature water lilies are planted, the water depth should be controlled at 10~15cm. Water depth that is too shallow or too deep is not conducive to the formation and complete development of water lilies, especially when the water depth is more than 80cm, it is almost impossible to bloom. When the water depth is too shallow, although the flowers can bloom, they are often smaller, lighter in color, and have a short flowering period. Daily maintenance tips for water lilies 1. Lighting Water lilies love light. If you want them to bloom larger and more, you must ensure that they have sufficient light, and the daily light time should be no less than six hours. The more light there is, the more flowers the water lilies will bloom. 2. Water quality When growing water lilies, you must ensure that they have sufficient water. The water level should be 3 cm away from the mouth of the pot. You should pay attention to the water quality. It must be clean and transparent. If the water becomes dirty and smelly, you must change the water in time. You can change the water once every 5 days to keep the water clean. 3. Soil Water lilies need soil with high viscosity and a pH value of 6 to 8 for normal growth. Loam rich in organic matter is best, but you can also use fertile pond mud directly. Fill the container to 1/2 of the height, with the water level about 10 cm above the soil surface, and gradually increase the water level as the lotus leaves grow. 4. Temperature The suitable temperature for water lilies is about 25-30℃. When the temperature is cold at night, the flowers will shrink by themselves, and will bloom again when the temperature is suitable. 5. Fertilization When water lilies enter their peak flowering period, they need to be fertilized. If there is insufficient nutrients, it will not be easy for them to bloom, or the flowers that bloom will be small and the flowering period will be short. To fertilize water lilies, wrap the fertilizer in sticky soil, roll it into a small ball, and bury it about 15 cm away from the center, 10 cm below the soil layer. This way the fertilizer will be released slowly and act directly on the roots. 6. Pruning After the water lily finishes blooming, some withered flowers and leaves will remain on the plant. They will not only increase the nutrient consumption of the plant, but also affect the ornamental effect, so they need to be cut off in time. 7. Change mud When growing water lilies, the soil needs to be changed every year, because after a year of growth, the nutrients in the soil are basically used up by the plants, making it difficult to support the continued growth of the plants. Changing the soil can give it more nutrients and help it grow. That’s it |
