Seed propagation of money tree

Seed collection

When choosing seeds for sowing and propagation, you should select plants with good growth, strong branches and leaves, and full fruits as the mother trees for seed collection.

When the fruit grows to reddish brown or orange-yellow and the capsule has not yet cracked, the seeds inside the fruit should be collected immediately.

Treatment of fruits for seed collection

After collecting the fruits with seeds you need, you need to carry out simple processing.

After the fruits are collected, the peel and stalks must be removed, and then they are dried in the sun. After the capsule cracks, they are knocked with a small wooden stick to separate the seeds and the fruit.

Use screening to select better seeds, preferably seeds that are pure black and nearly spherical in shape.

Seed storage and pre-sowing treatment

It is best to sow the money tree in the autumn of the same year, so that the seeds can complete the germination process in the soil, lay a good foundation for future growth, and grow stronger next year.

Before sowing, choose soil with good drainage, fertility and nutrition, and place it in a sunny place sheltered from the wind.

The seeds must be disinfected before sowing, and should be soaked in 80°C warm water and mixed with wet sand to germinate, and then mixed with wet sand for sowing. When the number of seed cracks reaches more than 30%, row sowing can be carried out.

sowing

First of all, when sowing, you should choose loose and breathable soil with good water retention and drainage properties. It should also have a certain degree of fertility and be free of underground pests and pathogens.

After sowing the seeds, cover them with a 2 cm thick layer of loose and fine soil to protect the seeds from insect pests, and then irrigate with a small amount of water. Maintenance after this period requires ensuring the moisture of the soil, paying attention to ventilation, and light, but avoid direct sunlight, and provide appropriate shade.
