Turtles are very cute and easy to keep pets. However, if you want your little turtle to grow up healthily, you need to master some key methods and techniques. So what exactly is it? Let’s learn more about it below.

1. Breeding container

Choose a container of appropriate size, such as a storage box, logistics box or fish tank , and make sure the container is sterilized and the inner wall is not rough to prevent the turtle from escaping or getting injured.

2. Water quality management

When using tap water to raise turtles, the water should be fully exposed to the air to remove chlorine, or a special water treatment agent should be used. In addition, pay attention to changing the water regularly to keep the water clean, and install a filtration system as needed.

3. Light temperature

Provide a UVB lamp to simulate sunlight, help the turtle synthesize vitamin D3 and promote calcium absorption. At the same time, use heat lamps or heating pads to maintain a suitable temperature in the water and on land. The water temperature should usually be between 22°C and 28°C.

4. Feeding tips

The little turtle is an omnivorous animal and does not have high requirements for food. Generally, you can prepare special turtle food for turtles, supplemented with fresh vegetables , fruits and a small amount of insects, small fish, shrimps, etc. Remember to maintain food diversity so that the turtle can take in balanced nutrition. At the same time, control the amount of feeding to avoid water pollution caused by overfeeding.

5. Disinfection and disease prevention

Use potassium permanganate solution for disinfection regularly, and add oxytetracycline or sulfamethoxazole to the feed to prevent disease. In addition, you must also be careful to prevent pests such as rats, snakes, and cats.

6. Other points

(1) Regularly observe the turtle’s mental state, appetite, behavior, etc., and take timely measures if any abnormalities are found.

(2) Clean up food residues and excrement regularly to keep the water clean.

(3) Keep the temperature of the breeding environment stable and avoid large temperature differences to prevent colds, pneumonia and other diseases.
