How to water Clivia on the balcony

How to water Clivia on the balcony

1. Watering method

The roots of Clivia are fleshy and contain a lot of water. Therefore, when watering it daily, you must control the amount. Too much water will easily cause the roots to rot. Generally, wait until the soil becomes dry before watering it again. It is better if the cultivation soil feels slightly moist, and avoids being too dry or having water accumulation. When watering, water the plants into the soil, not pouring from top to bottom. Once water droplets fall to the base of the leaves, they will be difficult to evaporate and will easily rot over time.

2. Interval Frequency

It is best not to have a fixed watering interval, as weather changes will also affect the number of watering times. Generally, in areas with stable climate, you can water more on sunny days and less on cloudy days. During the rainy season, the plants need to be sheltered from the rain and the potted plants should not be exposed to the rain. The weather will be very cold after the beginning of winter, so you can water it at longer intervals, once a week will be enough. In spring and autumn, watering is usually done once a day or every other day.

2. How to water the balcony?

The balcony has relatively good ventilation, so you can water the plants a little more than indoors, and also pay attention to increasing the humidity of the breeding environment. The moisture content of the surface and deep layers of the potting soil should be the same. Because there is wind on the balcony, it is very likely that the surface soil is dry while the deep layer has not yet dried. In this case, watering will easily cause root rot. Before watering, insert chopsticks into the soil, wait for a few minutes and take them out. If the soil is dry, you can water it.
