How to propagate cat's eye arrowroot

Propagation of cat's eye arrowroot by division

This is the most commonly used propagation method for cat's eye arrowroot, and is suitable for home cultivation.

Division time

It is usually carried out in late spring or early summer when the temperature is around 20°C. However, it can be carried out all year round as long as the temperature and humidity are suitable.

Division method

First, take the mother plant of cat's eye arrowroot out of the pot and use a sharp knife to cut the root block with stems, leaves or leaf buds.

After the cutting is completed, put it in the pot and water it immediately, and place it in a cool place. Control the temperature and humidity in the early stage, and then carry out normal maintenance after the new roots grow out.

The survival rate of cuttings is far lower than that of division propagation.

It can be carried out at a temperature not lower than 20°C.

Cutting method

Generally, the top tender shoots are selected, and the length of the cuttings is about 10-15 cm. Depending on the size of the leaves, one third or one half is retained.

When taking cuttings, you can use indoleacetic acid, indolebutyric acid or ABT rooting powder to treat them, and the cuttings will take root in about 30-50 days.

After processing, the cuttings are inserted into the seedbed. The best spacing between rows and plants is 5×10 cm, and they are covered with a film arch shed.
