How to make Clivia grow more new leaves

The leaves and roots of Clivia are relatively thick, so during maintenance, it needs a suitable environment and sufficient nutrients to sprout new leaves. We mainly increase nutrition from the aspects of light, soil, water and fertilizer.

1. Lighting

If you want light-loving plants to grow new leaves, you need to provide them with sufficient light. If there is insufficient light, the plant will not have nutrients, and the existing nutrients will be enough to keep the plant alive, so of course it will not form new leaves. When maintaining it at home, we can place it near a south-facing window or a southeast-facing balcony with good ventilation and light.

2. Soil

Its root system is quite special, with thick fleshy roots, and it has high requirements for soil. The roots can absorb enough nutrients from the soil to promote the growth of new leaves, so when transplanting, it is best to choose loose and fertile humus soil. At the same time, the soil should be sparse and breathable to ensure good drainage. When repotting and changing soil in spring every year, add an appropriate amount of base fertilizer to the soil to ensure that the soil is fertile.

3. Fertilization

Clivia needs a lot of nutrients in the process of growing new leaves. You can apply an appropriate amount of oil crops as fertilizer, or apply fermented bean cake fertilizer water once every half a month to promote the plant to grow new leaves quickly.

4. Watering

Observe the condition of the soil in the pot, and water it thoroughly once it is dry. Each time you water, let the water flow out of the drainage holes. Avoid frequent watering or excessive watering that causes water accumulation and root rot. Otherwise, not only will new leaves not grow, but the plant will also die.
