How to propagate cinnabar root

How to propagate cinnabar root

sowing

Seed propagation is a common method of propagation of cinnabar root. For seed propagation, you first need to select the seeds. Pick the cinnabar root fruits after they are ripe, peel and wash them before sowing. You can store them in sand and sow them in the spring of the following year. Be careful not to store the seeds for too long.

Seed propagation requires disinfection, both the seeds and the soil. After the seeds are disinfected, they can continue to germinate in order to increase the germination rate. After germination, sow the seeds, place them on the soil and cover them with a layer of soil. Water the plants after sowing, but be careful about how hard you water them so as not to wash the seeds out of the soil.

After sowing, cinnabar root needs proper maintenance, pay attention to heat preservation and moisturizing, ensure sufficient light, but avoid direct sunlight. When the cinnabar root seedlings grow more than 3 leaves, they can be transplanted.

Cuttings

The cutting propagation of cinnabar root is generally carried out in late spring or early autumn. When carrying out cutting propagation, choose the tender branches of the cinnabar root grown in the current year as cuttings. Cut them into about 15 cm long and have more than 3 leaves.

When taking cuttings, use a material with good air permeability such as river sand as the substrate and insert the cuttings into the sand bed. Do a good job of heat preservation and moisturizing, keep the temperature between 20℃ and 30℃, and place it in semi-shade for maintenance. Pay attention to shade when the temperature is high; the humidity should be higher, and you can spray water frequently. It will take about 30 to 40 days for the roots to take root, and then it can be transplanted.

Layering

Cinnabar root can also be layered. Choose strong branches and peel off the bark about 30cm below the top. Press the branches into the soil and cover them with soil, or wrap the peeled parts with film and put some moist soil on them. They will take root in about one to two months.

After the cinnabar roots have taken root, cut off the branches and plant them.
