Phalaenopsis orchids grown with pine needles will not accumulate water. When watering, use a watering can to spray water until water flows out from the bottom of the pot. Sprinkle water around the orchid pot frequently to keep the air moist, but be careful not to let water accumulate in the center of the orchid leaves. Especially in winter at night, do not spray water on the leaves.

Watering during the growing season

Watering Phalaenopsis should be determined according to its growth and development period. Water more frequently during the period of new root extension. Water more during the flowering and bud formation period. However, you should reduce watering during the flowering period to prevent the flowers from withering prematurely due to excessive water.

Watering during dormancy

Water less during the dormant period after flowering. Generally, water the plant once a day in spring and autumn, and water it once in the morning and evening in summer.

Control watering in winter and keep the soil in the pot moist.

Water and fertilizer combination

Spring and summer are its active growth periods, and thin liquid fertilizer mainly composed of nitrogen fertilizer should be applied about once every two weeks. Autumn and winter are its flower stem growth periods, and liquid fertilizer mainly composed of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be applied every 10 to 14 days. Fertilization should be stopped after buds appear, otherwise it will easily cause bud drop.

Water the plants on the second day after fertilizing. Fertilizing is usually done in the evening, and you can water the next morning!
