Jasmine fertilization method

Jasmine fertilization method

Does potted jasmine need fertilizer?

Some notes on fertilization

Jasmine should not be extensively fertilized in spring because the temperature in spring is low and unstable. It is difficult for jasmine to absorb fertilizer after fertilization. The fertilizer remaining in the potting soil will soak and corrode the roots of jasmine that have just recovered vitality, which can easily cause root rot of jasmine.

As the temperature continues to rise in summer, the tips of the new jasmine branches will differentiate and produce flower buds. This is the time to start fertilizing the jasmine. Note: Do not apply fertilizer unless the soil in the pot is dry. Jasmine will easily have root rot after applying fertilizer to moist soil. This is very important.

As the jasmine buds grow, bud, and mature, gradually increase the amount of fertilizer to make the jasmine flowers grow luxuriantly.

In autumn, the fertilization of jasmine must be controlled. If you can avoid fertilizing, try not to fertilize it to avoid causing the death of the plant. Stopping fertilization in early September will help jasmine survive the winter.

Is fertilization necessary?

Potted jasmine needs to be fertilized. Don't think that the small potted jasmine can grow and bloom luxuriantly relying on the little water and soil fertility.

Jasmine likes fertilizer, especially since its flowering period is long, so you can apply a lot of fertilizer appropriately.

Fertilization method

When planting potted jasmine, first apply base fertilizer to the bottom of the pot. You can put the base fertilizer at the bottom of the potting soil, add a layer of soil on the fertilizer, and then plant the flower into the pot. Be careful not to place the roots directly on the fertilizer. When applying top dressing, you can sprinkle dry fertilizer powder on the surface of the potting soil, then loosen the soil and water. Top dressing can be divided into fertilizer water, alum fertilizer water, and fertilizer tablets. Foliar top dressing can also be carried out during the growing season. Fertilizer water is made by soaking bean cake, sesame paste residue or water chestnut slices, sheep horns, etc., which is applied after fermentation. Fertilizer and water are suitable for jasmine flowers in flower beds or large pots placed outdoors. Alum fertilizer water refers to adding 0.1% ferrous sulfate to the soaked fertilizer water. This kind of fertilizer is suitable for acidic soil in the south. Because jasmine prefers slightly acidic soil. Fertilizer tablets refer to solid fertilizers prepared with chemical fertilizers. Foliar fertilization, also known as foliar fertilization, refers to spraying potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution at a concentration of 0.1% on the above-ground part of the seedlings, which can make the jasmine leaves dark green and shiny.

How to fertilize

Time of fertilization

Season: In spring and summer, fertilizer can be applied according to the growth conditions of the plants. Apply an appropriate amount of fertilizer to small plants and increase the amount of fertilizer to large plants. In autumn, the amount of fertilizer should be controlled, and it is best to stop fertilizing to ensure that the jasmine flowers can safely overwinter.

Specific time: It is best to apply fertilizer in the evening. Applying fertilizer in the morning under strong sunlight can easily cause fertilizer damage.

What fertilizer to apply

If jasmine is well fertilized, it can bloom three times a year. Jasmine often stops blooming after blooming once due to lack of nutrients. You can use special fertilizer for flowers. Fertilizer can improve the physical and chemical properties of the soil. After organic fertilizer enters the soil, it is decomposed by microorganisms and condensed into new humus. It can combine with clay and calcium in the soil to form an organic-inorganic complex, promote the formation of water-stable granular structure in the soil, and thus coordinate the contradictions between water, fertilizer, air and heat in the soil. Apply fertilizer to jasmine flowers. The fertilizer has comprehensive nutrients and can keep the leaves beautiful and the flowers fragrant.
