Propagation method of pine red plum: sowing method

Before sowing the seeds of pine red plum, the floating particles must be removed first, usually with tap water.

In order to increase the germination rate, the selected seeds must be refrigerated for germination. Put the seeds in an envelope and place them in a refrigerator at 2°C for 48 hours.

It is best to use sieved peat soil for the seedbed, with a thickness of about 10 cm.

Because the seeds of pine red plum are very small, they should be mixed with 20 times the amount of fine sand and stirred evenly before sowing them in the seedling bed.

After sowing, spray water with a mist nozzle in time to maintain humidity, and pay attention to heat preservation and appropriate shading.

Seedlings will begin to emerge in about 25 days, and the germination rate can reach 80%. When the seedlings are 5 cm tall, thinning and transplanting can be carried out.

Propagation method of pine red plum: layering method

In spring, layer the long branches that sprout, and after they have taken root, cut them off from the mother plant in autumn and transplant them into pots in the spring of the following year.

The layering method of propagation is relatively simple, but it is restricted by the number of mother plants, and the number of reproduction is relatively small.

Management of Prunus mume after reproduction

Pine red plum likes a warm, humid and well-lit environment. It is afraid of high temperatures and scorching sun in the summer, and should be given sufficient sunlight in other seasons. It should not be placed in an overly shady place for a long time.

It likes moisture and can tolerate a certain degree of drought. Keep the soil moist during the growing season and pay attention to drainage during the rainy season to avoid long-term waterlogging in the soil. Control moisture in winter and keep the soil slightly moist and slightly dry.

Pine Red Plum is not very demanding on the soil, but it grows best in slightly acidic soil that is rich in humus, loose, fertile, and well-drained. When the soil is too alkaline, it should be improved with 5% ferrous sulfate solution, with a pH value of 6.5-7.0.
