How to water Chlorophytum comosum

How to water Chlorophytum comosum

The plant's water requirements

In general, it does not require a lot of water. But it does not mean that we do not need to water it. It still requires water at certain times. Without water, its normal growth and development will be greatly hindered. However, there is one thing that needs to be noted, that is, it is afraid of waterlogging, so water must not accumulate in the pot, otherwise its roots will rot, and if it is serious, it may even cause the death of the entire plant.

Watering method at specific time

In a year, March to September, that is, spring and summer, is the vigorous growth period of this plant, so the amount and frequency of watering can be larger during this period.

After September, which is autumn and winter, its growth rate will gradually slow down, so we can slowly reduce the amount and frequency of watering until it stops completely. Note that if you water during this period, you must not water too much at one time.

Precautions

Given that this plant does not require too much water, we have a principle when watering, which is to wait until the soil is completely dry before watering. If it is not completely dry, you don’t need to water it for the time being. This is what we often call the "water when dry and water when wet" principle. In addition, because it is particularly afraid of waterlogging, we must avoid water accumulation when watering, and the container must also be selected with good drainage.

You should also pay attention to the choice of watering time. You can water in the morning and evening, but it is best not to water at noon, especially when the temperature is particularly high in summer.

If the temperature is particularly high, you can sprinkle some water on the surrounding environment.
