Cuttings can also be taken in summer , but they must be done during the rainy season in June and July , and the temperature must be controlled between 13 and 18 degrees.

How to propagate hydrangea by cuttings

1. Choose cuttings

Select healthy and strong branches close to the roots from the mother plant, and cut them about 5-8 cm with scissors. It is best to cut them in the morning. Remove the extra leaves from the branches, keep 1-2 tender leaves at the top, and cut off 1/3 of the leaves. Make the base incision oblique, apply rooting powder, and place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry.

2. Prepare the soil

Hydrangeas have no requirements for soil pH, just make sure the soil is breathable, well-drained and fertile. Prepare leaf mold, garden soil, peat soil, and add decomposed organic fertilizer, mix well and make it into culture soil .

3. Take cuttings

Prepare a suitable container, fill it with culture soil, and smooth the soil. Insert the hydrangea cuttings into the culture soil, compact the soil slightly, and water to keep the soil moist. Cover with film and place in a shaded place for maintenance. Spray water to keep it moist in dry weather, and wait for 20-45 days for it to take root.
