How to propagate Jade Plant

How to propagate Jade Plant

The sowing propagation method of Jade Leaf

The most commonly used method in households is sowing. It is easy to operate, does not require professional tools, and has a relatively high survival rate.

The flowerpot for planting Jade Plant should not be too small. To avoid frequent changes to larger pots in the future, it is best to choose a 35-40 cm clay pot at the beginning. Fill the pot with loose, fertile soil and plant the prepared seeds, 2 to 3 plants per pot. After sowing, cover the seeds with plastic bags to ensure a certain humidity. Remove the plastic bags after seedlings emerge.

At the beginning, the Jade Plant seedlings are the same as Purslane, but don’t worry. After a while, the stems will gradually become thicker and change color, and then you will be able to see the difference.

Cutting propagation method of Jade Leaf

Usually in early April or September to October, choose strong and plump stems with short internodes as cuttings. Let it air dry in a cool place for a few days, and then you can do the cuttings after the cut ends are dry. Keep the soil in the pot dry after cuttings, and don't water it too much. It will slowly take root after 15 to 20 days.

The grafting propagation method of Jade Leaf

Cut the purslane branches grown in the current year as scion. The scion should not be too long. The two sides of the base of the scion should be obliquely cut into a duckbill shape. Then choose a relatively old jade tree stump as the rootstock, shorten all the side branches, and then combine the scion with the rootstock.

Then use a plastic bag to tie up the joints, place the potted plants in a semi-shaded area, and prevent the joints from coming into contact with water. They will then survive in 10 to 15 days.

Layering propagation method of Jade Leaf

Layering is the process of pressing down the longer stems and branches of the plant, burying them in the soil, and slowly the broken parts will grow and form new plants. This method can be used when the branches are long to avoid pulling the plant and affecting the growth of the roots.
