How to plant lily seeds

How to plant lily seeds

1. Seed selection

Small lilies are usually propagated by sowing. The selection of seeds is particularly important. In order to ensure the quality of sowing, it is best to use artificial pollination to control the seeds for sowing.

2. Sowing Methods

The time for planting lily seeds is generally chosen in early May. The seeds are sown in flower pots or seedbeds by spot sowing or row sowing, and then lightly covered with a layer of 0.3 cm soil. Ensure the temperature is between 15 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius, and control the humidity and sunshine at around 70%. Generally, it will germinate in six to eight days, and can be transplanted after two leaves grow.

After planting, the temperature needs to be maintained between 18 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius. When five to seven leaves grow, the seedlings can be transplanted. When transplanting, please note that the seedlings must carry the original soil. This can effectively avoid damaging the tuberous roots of the lily of the valley and is conducive to its survival. The distance between transplanted seedlings should be kept between 20 cm and 30 cm.

3. Notes

1. Soil. The soil you choose must be fertile and loose, with good drainage. Sandy soil is best, and heavy clay soil must not be used.

2. Temperature. The survival ability of lilies is relatively strong, and it can grow normally even when the temperature is particularly high in summer, but it is best to control the temperature between 15 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius, which is conducive to seed germination.

3. Watering. After planting the seeds, remember to water them and make sure to water the soil thoroughly. Then make sure to water them once a day to provide sufficient moisture for the seeds to germinate.

4. Light. The lily particularly likes a mild and cool climate and plenty of sunshine. A certain amount of light exposure time is necessary after the seeds are sown so that the seeds can grow healthily and the germination time will be advanced.

Okay, that’s all for today’s sharing. I hope it can be helpful to friends who want to grow lilies.
