Loach breeding technology and breeding methods

Loach breeding technology and breeding methods

Loach, known as the " ginseng in water", is loved by people for its tender meat, delicious taste and high nutritional value. It has strong adaptability and is easy to breed, making it an ideal aquaculture choice for farmers. Let’s learn about loach breeding technology and methods below.

1. Seedling placement

Select 4-7 cm seedlings from the previous year, release them before April, and harvest them in October-December to improve feed efficiency and survival rate. Avoid stocking during the loach breeding season. It is recommended to release them in February-March or after mid-June.

2. Treatment before stocking

Use 3%-5% salt water to disinfect loach for 5-10 minutes to reduce the occurrence of Saprolegniasis.

3. Water quality control

The initial water depth is maintained at 10-20 cm and gradually deepened as the plant grows. Inject new water regularly to maintain a good water environment, and pay attention to increasing oxygen especially in hot weather.

4. Pond soil

Clay soil is conducive to the growth of loaches, making their meat delicious; sandy soil has the opposite effect.

5. Feed selection

Loach is an omnivorous fish and can be fed with rice bran, bean cake, bean dregs, etc. Adjust the feeding amount according to the water temperature: 4% of the total body weight of loach in March-June and September-October, and 1% in July-August.

6. Feeding skills

Follow the four principles: timing, quantity, quality and positioning. Four things to observe: feeding time, individual growth, water surface movement, and water quality changes to determine the amount of feed to be fed.

7. Daily management

Implement the "two preventions, two diligences, three early actions, and four observations" strategy, including escape prevention, disease prevention, frequent pond patrols, frequent records, early pond cleaning, early feeding, early stocking, and observation of loach activity, weather, water quality, and seasonal changes.

8. Disease prevention and control

Regularly use quicklime and bleaching powder to improve water quality and prevent diseases. Eliminate harmful organisms such as water snakes and water rats promptly.

9. Fish at the right time

In late autumn and early winter, when the water temperature drops to 10-15℃ and loaches eat less, they are caught manually, usually after draining the pond.

Through the above loach farming technical points, the success rate and economic benefits of loach farming can be effectively improved. At the same time, pay attention to the growth conditions and environmental changes of loaches, and adjust breeding strategies in time to ensure the smooth progress of the breeding process.
