How to promote flowering of Clivia

How to promote flowering of Clivia

If you want a pot of Clivia to bloom as soon as possible, you should mainly use fertilizer reasonably and lower the temperature. Increase the temperature difference to achieve this.

Through fertilization

The simplest and most practical method is to water the plants with beer (of course, the flower-promoting fertilizers on the market are also good). Pour beer directly into the flowerpot and add a small amount of water to effectively enhance the air permeability of the soil.

Controlling temperature

It is difficult for Clivia to bloom in the dog days of summer because the temperature exceeds 25℃. Clivia enters a dormant state, the flower stems grow slowly, and it is very easy to get stuck. This is a normal phenomenon. However, the phenomenon of pinching arrows still occurs in other seasons, one reason is that the temperature is relatively high, and the other is that there is no temperature difference. In order to achieve normal flowering, the temperature must be controlled well.

Pay attention to temperature differences

The temperature difference should be basically synchronized with the temperature. To promote flowering, the temperature difference should be controlled above 10℃. The usual practice is to place the Clivia on a south-facing balcony during the day and on a north-facing balcony at night. If the arrow-pinching phenomenon still occurs, you can remove the Clivia from the pot and let the roots dry for a few days, and then put it back in the pot.

Control flowering period

When winter comes, if the flower buds appear early, you can place the plant in a room above 25℃ for a few more days to let it dormant. Increase the temperature difference before the New Year, water it with beer, and it will start to bloom in about a week. By controlling the time well, you can make the Clivia bloom in the desired season (such as Chunji).
