How to propagate mountain roses

How to propagate mountain roses

Division

Except for some individual varieties such as large mountain roses, mountain roses are more likely to grow side buds at the base.

During the growing season, break off the side buds, dry them in the sun for 3-5 days, and apply carbendazim on the wounds.

After the wound is dry, plant it directly in the pot. It is easier to survive with or without roots.

Beheading

Beheading is best done in autumn.

Use thread (dental floss or fishing line) to insert it into the gap between leaves, and then tie it around the middle height of the plant to separate the leaf core from the base.

Leave the base in the original pot, and be careful not to let the wound get wet, otherwise it will easily rot. Many side buds will soon grow between the leaves.

Place the cut leaf core in a ventilated place to dry for about two to three days to a week, then plant it in moist soil and wait for it to take root.

sowing

Sowing should be done during the growing season, preferably in autumn.

Store the seeds in a refrigerator, spread them evenly on the soil surface without covering them with soil, place them in a place without direct sunlight, and water them using the immersion pot method.

It will germinate 5-10 days after sowing. During this period, keep the soil moist and provide sufficient light.
