How to grow Haworthia succulenta

How to grow Haworthia succulenta

1. Fertilization

In this regard, flower lovers have taken many detours, especially those who want to speed up the growth of succulents, but have achieved the opposite effect. The main purpose of fertilization is to nourish the root system.

When fertilizing, more calcium fertilizer should be applied, which can help the plant increase the thickness of the cell wall. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can also be applied in appropriate amounts. Only a balanced amount of various trace elements can promote the growth of the plant. However, care should be taken to avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer. Excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer will cause the cell walls to swell and thin, which will weaken the plant's disease resistance and make the leaves prone to cracking.

2. Watering

It is best to water the Haworthia plant with rainwater or purified water. Natural rainwater falls from the sky and directly waters the plants, so it is rare to find heart rot. Therefore, the advantage of watering from the beginning is that it can effectively flush out harmful substances and salt-alkali in the root environment of the plant, which can promote the growth and development of the roots of the Haworthia.

The pot immersion method can also be used, but long-term pot immersion may cause the accumulation of salt and harmful substances in the potting soil, which is harmful to the root system.

3. Air

The roots of Haworthia succulents require good air permeability, so the soil used must meet the growth needs of the succulent roots, otherwise the roots will die due to lack of oxygen. Especially in the hot summer season, the roots of succulents have a strong respiratory activity. If the environment, pots, and soil cannot ensure good air permeability, the root system will definitely be damaged. This is also the fundamental reason for root inversion in summer.

4. Use a basin

The root system of the Haworthia succulent plant is relatively developed, so you should choose a deeper flower pot, and it is best to use a Vientiane pot.

The size of the pot can be determined according to the size of the plant. The root system of a small seedling is generally not strong. If a pot is too large, the water in the pot will evaporate too quickly and the plant will not absorb water, so it will grow slowly. If a large plant uses a pot that is too small, the water will be absorbed quickly, the root system will not get enough water supply, and the growth state will not be very good.

5. Lighting

Light is a good helper for controlling the plant shape of Sedum succulents. Many people have the impression that Haworthia is not sun-resistant, but you are wrong. As long as the root system grows well and there is sufficient water, Haworthia is very sun-resistant.

As for the lighting time, you need to decide according to the local environment. Generally, the daily lighting time is about 3 to 5 hours.

6. Temperature

The key to the growth of Haworthia is a large temperature difference. The best growth temperature for Haworthia is 15~35℃, but this temperature difference does not need to be maintained all year round. For example, in winter, try to keep the temperature relatively stable.
