How to make Euphorbia obesa bloom more

How to make Euphorbia obesa bloom more

In fact, the vigorous growth of Euphorbia obesa does not mean that it will bloom many flowers, but as long as you pay attention to a few small details during the maintenance process, the vigorous Euphorbia obesa will bloom more flowers.

Ensure sufficient light

The Euphorbia pulcherrima prefers a hot and humid climate and needs sufficient light all year round. It is also drought-resistant, especially the light in summer, which is one of the important conditions for the Euphorbia pulcherrima to produce more buds. In spring and autumn, it can be placed outdoors in a sunny place for maintenance, while in summer it needs to be placed indoors in a place with scattered light for maintenance, but be sure to open the windows frequently to allow air circulation.

Pay attention to timely pruning

During the budding stage, the new lateral buds on the abnormal stems, the new buds sprouting from the base and some flower buds should be removed in time to concentrate nutrients on the flower buds. During the peak growth period in summer, it is also necessary to remove the abnormal stem tips and weak buds on both sides of the upper part, and retain the strong buds on both sides of the middle and lower part and at the base to cultivate new strong flower branches. New branches grow in spring, small varieties bloom in the second year, large varieties bloom in the third year. Therefore, the old and damaged branches should be gradually removed and replaced alternately to keep the flowers blooming continuously.

Moderate fertilizer and water

Euphorbia obesa likes fertilizer. When the flower buds on both sides of the modified stem gradually sprout in spring, first water it thoroughly once, apply a thin fertilizer once, and then repeatedly water it with thin liquid water after it is completely dry. After the buds appear, 1-2 quick-acting phosphate fertilizers should be added, such as rotating the application of 1% diammonium phosphate solution and 30% horseshoe slices, decomposed bean cake water, expired milk or beer can also be used. Keep the soil in the pot moist during the flowering period. After flowering, the nutrients are consumed too much and the modified stems are shriveled. You can spray water on the branches and leaves more often. After they are restored to life, apply 1-2 slightly concentrated quick-acting nitrogen fertilizers in time, such as 0.5% urea solution for watering. During the summer growing period, apply decomposed liquid fertilizer once every 20 days or so, such as 40% organic liquid fertilizer mainly composed of decomposed horseshoe slices and bean cake water. Water and loosen the soil after each fertilization.

Regular repotting management

The Euphorbia obesa should be repotted every 1-2 years, usually in spring or autumn. The potting soil should be sandy soil with organic matter. When repotting, remove some of the old soil and dead roots, and add new culture soil, which is generally a mixture of 4 parts leaf mold, 3 parts garden soil, 2 parts compost soil, and 1 part sandy soil. After repotting, the flowers need to be placed in a cool place for maintenance. After 1 month, they should be placed in the sun for growth. They should be shaded in midsummer to prevent damage to the leaves due to excessive light intensity. They should be moved indoors on rainy days. It can be exposed to sufficient sunlight after the beginning of autumn, otherwise it will not be easy to bloom due to insufficient light.
