How to cultivate sorrel

How to cultivate sorrel

1. Soil

Sorrel is more suitable for planting in cultivation soil with good drainage, moderate pH, and at an altitude of 400 to 4,100 meters, and can tolerate barrenness slightly. Avoid continuous cropping, otherwise it will lead to variety degeneration and slow growth.

2. Temperature

It likes warm environment and is relatively cold-resistant. 10-35℃ is the most suitable temperature for its growth. During the winter period, breeding needs to be done in a greenhouse.

3. Lighting

It has strong adaptability, likes sunlight and can tolerate shade. It is best to plant it in semi-sun or shaded areas, which can increase its medicinal value and speed up its growth. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, and do shading in advance during the hot summer months.

4. Fertilization

Top dressing should be applied in time according to its growth conditions, with an average of 10 kilograms of urea or 20 kilograms of ammonium sulfate per mu of land. Low-concentration compound fertilizers can also be used.

5. Watering

It is drought-tolerant, but a humid environment is good for its health. Daily watering can be controlled to watering once every 4-5 days. During the rainy season, attention should be paid to drainage to prevent root disorder and root rot.

6. Notes

1. Other weeds should be removed in time before transplanting, and herbicides should not be sprayed.

2. Pay attention to timely disinfection of the soil, and pay attention to the prevention and control of pests such as green worms and whiteflies from July to September.
