Maintenance methods of Euphorbia pulcherrima during the bud period

Adequate lighting

During the growing period, it is necessary to ensure that the plants receive normal sunlight, generally about 5 to 6 hours a day. The ambient temperature and air circulation of the plant's growth are also related. When the temperature is between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius, it helps the plant to bud and bloom; if the temperature is too high, the differentiating buds tend to reverse into tender shoots.

Timely branching

During the bud formation stage, if the plant grows too many branches, they will compete with the flower buds for nutrients, resulting in insufficient nutrients for the flower buds and causing the buds to wither. Therefore, the branches should be removed in time. Air circulation can eliminate retained gases such as ethylene that cause premature aging of flower buds, thereby protecting the flower buds.

Timely topdressing

Before the plant forms buds, it is necessary to apply top dressing fertilizer in time, but after buds appear, it is not advisable to apply too much top dressing fertilizer. Sometimes the plant grows very lushly but does not bloom. This is mainly because the location is too shaded or there is too much fertilizer and water, causing the plant to grow too tall. Fertilizer and water should be used in moderation, and care should be taken to avoid applying excessive nitrogen fertilizer. More sunlight should be given, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be added during the bud formation period to facilitate budding and flowering. Move to a medium-temperature greenhouse for wintering.
