How to fertilize sunflowers

How to fertilize sunflowers

1. Base fertilizer

Type: Use mainly organic fertilizer and use as little chemical fertilizer as possible.

Time and method of fertilization: For household agricultural planting, fertilizer should be evenly mixed into the soil before planting. Or after planting, dig a few holes 2 to 3 cm deep around the plant and apply fertilizer into them.

Fertilizer dosage: 5-10g of organic fertilizer per plant. If the plant is larger, the dosage can be appropriately increased.

2. Fertilizer

The main purpose of applying seed fertilizer is to strengthen the seedlings, and it should be applied in time after the seeds germinate. Calcium phosphate is mainly used to add a small amount of urea.

Usage: 3 to 5 days after the seeds germinate, sprinkle the fertilizer on the surface of the potting soil. Or apply 2 to 3 cm next to the seeds. Combined with sowing, apply organic and chemical fertilizers 2-3 cm below the seeds, or 2-3 cm next to the seeds.

3. Topdressing

Types: Nitrogen fertilizer as the main fertilizer, supplemented by potassium fertilizer. You can use urea, potassium chloride and other waste or decomposed human feces, urine, plant ash and so on.

Time: Apply fertilizer reasonably based on the growth of the plant, soil conditions, and base fertilizer used. However, topdressing is mainly concentrated in the period from budding to flowering of sunflowers.

Method: Dig a small hole 10 to 15 cm away from the sunflower and apply fertilizer. Pay attention to the depth of fertilization, avoid direct contact with the root system, and apply it in the wet water layer, which will help the fertilizer to exert its effect.

4. Foliar spraying

Sunflower foliar fertilizer is mainly sprayed after budding. Spray zinc, copper, manganese and molybdenum solutions after buds appear, and spray nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium solutions after flowering to make the flowers bright and the leaves green.
