What to do if the camellia has buds but does not bloom

Pay attention to antifreeze

In order for camellia to bloom, the suitable temperature during its bud stage is 10-15℃ . Therefore, if cold air activities are frequent in winter or early spring, the temperature often drops suddenly to below 5°C . Such low temperatures will cause the flower buds to be frozen and not bloom.

Remedies

The main thing is to ensure the temperature. For example: the flowers should be placed in a windless, sunny and warm place during the day and moved indoors at night ; if the temperature is below 5°C , cover the flowerpot with a plastic film bag to increase the temperature.

Maintain humidity

If the camellia has buds but does not bloom, you can check it. It may be a problem of insufficient humidity.

Specific approach

In winter and spring , camellia should be sprayed with water or mist after 10 am on sunny days. Generally, water the plant once a day on a sunny day to keep the surface of the pot moist, but not too dry or too wet. Large pots can be watered every 5-7 days. Or spray water on the soil surface or around the camellia. Just make sure that there is no accumulation of water.

Pest Control

The main insect pests during the camellia bud stage are aphids and rust mites. Being attacked by these pests will also affect the flowering of camellia.

Workaround

Aphids can be killed by spraying 1000 times diluted 40% oxydemeton-methyl emulsifiable concentrate , and rust mites can be killed by mixing 50 grams of laundry detergent, 10 ml of diesel and 10 liters of water, and spraying evenly.
