How to fertilize the money tree

How to fertilize the money tree

What fertilizer to use

The money tree is an ornamental foliage plant. If you want its leaves to be large and beautiful, it needs a lot of nitrogen fertilizer. In addition, the nutrients for the healthy growth of the plant come from root absorption, so the money tree needs sufficient potassium fertilizer during its growth period to strengthen its roots. Therefore, I recommend you to choose the following fertilizers:

Compound Fertilizer

This fertilizer can be purchased directly from flower shops or flower markets. It is divided into granular organic fertilizer and liquid fertilizer. Liquid fertilizer is usually chosen for household use. The various trace elements in compound fertilizers are relatively sufficient to meet the various needs of plant growth. Please apply them according to the instructions.

Household organic fertilizer

In fact, many "wastes" in life are natural organic fertilizers from the money tree. You can use decomposed cake fertilizer or fermented rice water. Of course, you can dry shells or animal bones, grind them into powder, and bury them in the soil. This will allow the money tree to slowly absorb nutrients without attracting insects.

How to fertilize

In order to make the money tree grow healthily, in addition to controlling the temperature and light, the timing and frequency of fertilization will also affect the growth of the money tree.

Fertilization time

There are two main times to fertilize the money tree: when repotting and when the money tree is in its growth period. At this time, the money tree has a higher demand for nutrients and can be fertilized appropriately.

When repotting every year, pour out 1/3 of the soil and add appropriate amount of compound fertilizer and mix evenly. Or you can directly use fertile soil, usually fallen leaf humus soil (soil under big trees), add a small amount of garden soil and bean dregs cake to mix. This type of fertilizer soil is more effective, but you need to make sure the fertilizer soil is fully decomposed to avoid damaging the plants.

Fertilization frequency

Fertilize during the growing season (May to September) mainly with decomposed liquid fertilizer or mixed flower fertilizer, once every 15 days or so, which can help the money tree grow lush.

Precautions

The dosage should not be too large each time, about 4 to 5 grams per pot each time.

Except for applying as little fertilizer as possible during the growing period and when repotting, the best way is to dig a small hole 2 cm away from the roots and put a few grains of high-efficiency compound fertilizer. The fertilizer effect will be released slowly, reducing the frequency of fertilization.
