Taboos of cultivating kapok in winter

Taboos of cultivating kapok in winter

Do not use alkaline soil

In the north, kapok can only appear in potted plants. Although this plant is not very picky about the soil, the soil in the north is mostly high in alkaline content, which is not acceptable. If conditions permit, you should still choose slightly acidic soil. In addition to this, you should also add a little basic fertilizer to the soil so that they can absorb the nutrients they need when they grow, which can be said to kill two birds with one stone.

Do not store in a cold room

Many northern families have unheated rooms such as "warehouses". Kapok should never be used to beautify such rooms. The outdoor temperature is relatively low. If there is no heating indoors, the temperature required for their growth will not be met. When the temperature is below 10℃, they can't bear it at all and will easily die. Therefore, in winter, we must ensure that they survive indoors in a room with a temperature above 15°C. But don't worry, the temperature in areas with heating is now far above this.

Do not allow water to accumulate in the potting soil

Although we know that they need a certain level of moisture to bloom and spread their leaves, too much water can easily cause their leaves to start changing color. This is because there is too much water and the roots cannot absorb so much water. Not only does it not grow normally, but it also inhibits the breathing of the roots. If the water cannot be drained in time, it will easily cause the roots to rot. At this time, all we can see is that the leaves begin to change color, so be sure to water only when you see that the soil is relatively dry.

Well, after reading these three taboos, I don’t know if you friends have made any “mistakes”, but as long as you take good care of it in the future, there will be no problem with the kapok plant blooming as usual!
