The queen whip, also known as the clock of the sky, the night-blooming cereus, and the three-edged arrow, is a perennial epiphytic or semi-epiphytic plant in the cactus family. Many people have the Queen of Whip planted at home. As long as it is properly maintained, it can grow very tall. Here we talk about the cultivation and pruning methods of the Queen of Whip. 1. Selection of breeding site Oxytropis prefers a warm and humid growing environment, and the sunlight should not be too strong. Therefore, when the sunlight is strong, try to grow it in a semi-shaded environment. If the weather is cold, it needs to be placed in a sunny place. The average temperature should be above 10 degrees Celsius to avoid frost damage to Oxytropis due to low temperature. 2. Soil selection Ostrea kirilowii likes sandy loam that is rich in humus and has good water permeability, so you can add some leaf mold and coarse sand to the soil where you plant Ostrea kirilowii, or you can use a mixture of leaf mold and wood ash for cultivation. During this period, try to choose organic fertilizers for fertilization and place the fertilizers around the plants, which will be more conducive to the absorption of fertilizers by the Ophiopogon japonicus and promote its growth. 3. How often should you water? The octagonal plant is relatively drought-resistant. Do not water it too much in spring. Water it every 10 or 15 days. In the hot summer, it needs to be watered once every morning or evening. In winter, the soil in the pot should be kept moderately dry as much as possible. You can wrap the potting soil with plastic film to keep it warm. 4. Pruning of the cycad After picking the flowers of the Osmanthus fragrans, it is necessary to cut off the dense branches and old branches that have bloomed. This will allow the new branches below to fully receive sunlight and improve ventilation conditions, promoting the next flowering. 5. Fertilization management The fertilizer requirements of the Ophiopogon japonicus are not high. Apply decomposed liquid fertilizer once every 15 to 20 days during the growth period, and stop fertilizing in winter. Do not apply too much fertilizer, otherwise it will easily lead to root rot. 6. Notes The Osmanthus fragrans is mostly propagated by cuttings, and it is prone to wilt, anthracnose , scab, etc. during the growth process. It is necessary to pay attention to its growth conditions in time so that it can be dealt with as soon as possible. The Oxyphylla needs to be repotted every 1 to 2 years. When repotting, you need to choose one that is appropriately sized to the plant. Before repotting, you need to take out the Oxyphylla and let it air dry for half a month before putting it back into the pot. 7. Pest and disease control (1) When the scab of Euphorbia pulex first occurs, use a knife to dig out the scabs and then apply 50-100 times diluted 40% carbendazim-triadimefon or 45% triadimefon. (2) In the early stage of anthracnose of Hylocereus orchioides, you can spray 30% copper oxychloride + 70% mancozeb, or 70% thiophanate-methyl + 75% chlorothalonil at a ratio of 1:1, 1000 times diluted. You can also spray 80% anthracnose thiram 800 times diluted, or 40% carbendazim + triadimefon 1000 times diluted, etc. The drugs need to be used alternately, once every 10 days. That’s it |
