How the Love Vine Spends the Summer

How the Love Vine Spends the Summer

Summer maintenance

Adequate lighting

The love vine is a typical summer succulent plant that likes an environment with plenty of sunlight. However, when the temperature is too high in summer, you must pay attention to proper shading, especially between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and avoid direct sunlight, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow and burnt, affecting the viewing experience.

The placement environment should avoid being relatively closed or even too shady, as this will make the leaves small and thin.

Moderate temperature

The most suitable growing environment for the love vine is 15~25℃. If the temperature exceeds 32℃ in summer, the growth of the love vine will stagnate. At this time, the temperature should be lowered through shading and ventilation to ensure the normal growth of the love vine.

Watering properly

When the temperature is too high in summer, the love vine will enter a short period of dormancy, and the amount of watering is very important at this time. Generally water once every 2 to 3 days, or spray to moisten the branches and leaves;

When caring for the love vine outdoors in summer, pay attention to sheltering it from rain and place it in a ventilated and rain-proof place to prevent the soil in the pot from becoming too wet after rain, which may cause root rot and death of the plant.

Loose soil

The rhizome of the love vine has a certain water storage capacity, so the potting soil should be nutrient soil with good drainage and the soil should be kept moist. Generally, the ratio of peat soil + river sand + perlite can be 6:3:1.

Timely fertilization

In summer, you can spray the leaves with a diluted 0.1-0.2% solution of potassium dihydrogen phosphate every 1-2 days to make the leaves brighter.

Precautions

Due to differences in planting soil, location, temperature and humidity, you need to adjust and control the maintenance on your own during summer and cannot copy it. Watering and fertilizing should be based on actual conditions. But as long as you follow the three key points of avoiding the scorching sun, controlling watering, and ensuring ventilation, everything will be safe.
