How to fertilize the catnip

How to fertilize the catnip

Fertilization temperature

Pogostemon cablin is a thermophilic plant, so the temperature must be within a reasonable range when fertilizing. When the temperature reaches above 15℃, it is the best temperature for fertilizing. Especially when the temperature drops below 10℃, don’t apply fertilizer!

Fertilizer selection

It is best to use liquid fertilizer for fertilizing the pennywort, and dilute the liquid fertilizer before use.

Or bury a small amount of solid fertilizer at the bottom of the pot and water directly. If you apply too much fertilizer, be sure to increase the frequency of watering to dilute the temporary fertilizer concentration in the potting soil.

Fertilization method

Method 1

The catnip is less sensitive to fertilizers. What is the way to provide it with sufficient nutrients without disturbing it? Of course, you should prepare fertilizer when planting or repotting. When repotting, add decomposed organic powder directly into the soil. This method can meet the growth needs of the catnip once a year.

Method 2

The plant requires relatively more fertilizer during its growth period, so you can choose to increase fertilization at this time. Use dilute fertilizer water instead of clean water to water the pot every month. The key point is that the fertilizer must be diluted. This will not cause fertilizer damage and the plants can grow normally.

Fertilization Metrics

The pennywort does not like fertilizer, and concentrated fertilizer is very harmful to it. When applying fertilizer, it is better to apply less or no fertilizer rather than too much. If you feel the fertilizer is too concentrated, you can dilute it by watering.
