Strawberries are usually planted in early spring, but can also be done in July or August of the year when seeds are collected, because strawberries like a warm environment. The temperature begins to rise in spring, which will accelerate the growth of strawberry seedlings and is also beneficial to the later growth of strawberries.

If strawberries are sown in early spring in February, they can be harvested in mid-to-late May. However, most areas now use greenhouse cultivation, so the ripening time of strawberries can be advanced appropriately. Generally, they start to bear fruit in January and reach the peak of maturity in March and April.

1. Planting method

Before planting strawberries, you need to choose suitable soil. You can choose neutral or slightly acidic soil with good sunlight, sufficient organic matter and strong drainage. When planting, you can dig a hole about the same depth as the strawberry soil every 45 cm or so. After putting the strawberries in, fill it with soil and water it thoroughly.

2. Watering management

Strawberries have relatively high requirements for water during their growth process. Generally, they need to be watered every 4-6 days during the flowering period. During the fruit growth and ripening period, they can be watered every 2 days or so. After the fruit is harvested, they only need to be watered once a week.

3. Disease prevention and control

During the process of strawberry maintenance, once a disease occurs, it will affect the growth of strawberry seedlings. Generally, red spider mites appear on the old leaves in the lower half of the strawberry seedlings. Pay attention to removing diseased leaves and yellow leaves, which can effectively reduce the spread of red spider mites. You can also use dimethyl ether emulsifiable concentrate for prevention and control. Note that you cannot spray before picking the fruit to avoid pesticide residues.
