1. Soil selection

Bonsai banyan trees can be grown in loose, well-watered culture soil. The usual ratio is garden soil: humus soil: sand 2:2:1. In addition, it is best to place moss of the same size as the pot on top of the bonsai. Firstly, it is beautiful, and secondly, it can play a good role in drainage and ventilation.

2. Light adjustment

Banyan tree is a sun-loving plant. Therefore, when growing banyan bonsai at home, you can place it in a sunny, well-ventilated place. However, the sunlight is strong in midsummer, so you should avoid the scorching sun appropriately to ensure the normal growth of the banyan bonsai.

3. Temperature management

The suitable growth temperature for banyan trees is generally within the range of 20℃-30℃. At the same time, the temperature difference between day and night should not exceed 10℃, otherwise it is very easy to fall leaves and cause death.

4. Watering tips

Banyan tree is a moisture-loving plant. During normal maintenance, the soil in the pot should be kept slightly moist to avoid excessive dryness or water accumulation in the pot. Make sure to water the soil when it is dry and water thoroughly each time. In addition, during the hot summer season, it is best to place potted plants in a cool and ventilated place, and water the plants frequently to achieve the effect of cooling and increasing humidity.

5. Reasonable fertilization

Banyan trees do not require much fertilizer , but they still need to be fertilized appropriately during the growing season. You can apply decomposed thin liquid fertilizer once a month to promote lush branches and leaves. At the same time, foliar fertilizer can also be used for spraying to supplement nutrients. Fertilization should be stopped in summer and winter to avoid harming the plants.

6. Pruning and shaping

Pruning is an important means of shaping the shape of banyan bonsai. Thinning is usually done in spring to remove unnecessary branches and promote the growth of new branches. And regular shaping and pruning are carried out to maintain the ideal tree shape.

7. Repot at the right time

Banyan bonsai that are not very old can be repotted every 2 years, and old bonsai can be repotted every 3-4 years. The best time is from late April to early May. It is not easy to repot in winter. When repotting, remove 1/2 of the old potting soil, cut off dead roots, short roots, shorten roots that are too long, thin out some overly dense roots, add some new fertile culture soil, and then repot and replant.

In general, in addition to mastering the key points of watering, the cultivation of banyan bonsai also requires comprehensive consideration of soil, fertilization, pruning, repotting and other aspects of management. Only with meticulous care and management can you grow a lush, green, unique banyan bonsai.
