What flowers are suitable for growing in Shenzhen?

What flowers are suitable for growing in Shenzhen?

1. Shenzhen’s climate characteristics

Shenzhen has a subtropical marine climate. Due to the influence of the monsoon, Shenzhen has hot and rainy summers and dry weather in other seasons. The annual average temperature is 22.4℃, and the highest temperature can reach 38.7℃, so it is more suitable for planting plants that like heat and light. As for those plants that like coolness and fear heat, or those plants that need low-temperature springwarming in winter, such as peonies, they are not suitable for planting in Shenzhen.

2. What flowers are suitable for growing in Shenzhen?

1. Ground-planted flowers: Generally speaking, ground-planted flowers are greatly affected by the regional environment. Considering the climatic conditions in Shenzhen, if you have a yard at home, it is more suitable to plant frangipani, dogtooth flower, ivy, hibiscus, crape myrtle, azalea, African jasmine, qinyan fig, monstera, Schefflera, areca palm, cycad, traveler's banana, oleander, spider orchid, Crinum japonica, coleus, arrowroot, cordyline, baby's breath, calla lily, iris, bougainvillea, firecracker plant, ramie creeper, creeper, butterfly flower, rose, petunia, poinsettia, croton, water lily, lotus, etc.

2. Potted flowers: Generally speaking, potted flowers are less affected by the regional environment, but the temperature in Shenzhen is high in summer and the low temperature period in winter is too short, so plants that require vernalization are not suitable for cultivation. Unless it is a bulb plant, you can put the bulbs in the refrigerator for low-temperature vernalization. Otherwise, it is impossible to make plants that need vernalization bloom relying solely on Shenzhen's natural climate.
