How to grow grapes?

Grape varieties can generally be divided into wine grapes and table grapes. Wine grapes are mainly used to produce wine , while table grapes are eaten directly by people. Grapes are currently quite popular in the market. Let’s learn how to grow grapes.

1. Choose good varieties

According to the local climate and the purpose of the fruit, choose high-quality varieties with early maturity and strong adaptability, such as Kyoho, Fujiminori, and Golden Finger.

2. Soil layer selection

Choose sandy loam with deep and loose soil. This kind of soil has good air permeability, the ground temperature rises quickly, and is suitable for grape growth.

3. Land preparation

In autumn and winter, prepare the land, apply well-rotted fertilizer , deep plow the soil, and prepare it into a suitable seedbed.

4. Grape management

Before transplanting, apply well-rotted base fertilizer, water sufficiently to allow roots to take root, and cover and compact the soil. Fertilization should be reasonable, including base fertilizer and topdressing, and pay attention to the time and method of fertilization. Control the amount of fertilizer and water, especially before and after flowering, avoid watering, and wait until the fruits are firmly established before watering and applying large amounts of fertilizer. Loosening the soil increases soil permeability, especially after the rainy season. Clean the side shoots to promote ventilation and light transmission.

5. Field management

Pinning: Remove branches that are too dense or underdeveloped, retain strong branches, and promote the growth of large grapes.

Thinning flowers and fruits: pinching can save nutrients, promote thickening of leaves and fullness of flower buds, and improve fruit set rate and quality.

Tendril removal: Remove tendrils in time to reduce nutrient consumption and diseases.

Thinning the grape vines: Thin the grape vines as early as possible according to the load of the vines, keep 1 to 2 grape vines on the extended vines, and keep a single grape on the fruiting branches.

Key points for growing Fujinren grapes: pruning in winter, fertilizing in early spring, removing weak buds, pinching off tendrils, tying branches, removing lower leaves, no fertilization before flowering in spring, no watering or spraying during flowering, pinching the tips of the panicles, pinching the tops, and spraying PBO to increase the fruit setting rate.

Anti-freeze treatment: Apply freezing water in time, pay attention to the soil extraction point and the back-sealing soil extraction ditch to ensure that the grape roots are not damaged by frost.

Anti-bird damage: Use newspaper bags to reduce sunburn and prevent pathogen infection and bird damage.

Disease prevention and control: spray pesticides before buds sprout, clean the garden in time to curb the spread of pathogens, treat the disease promptly when it first occurs, spray pesticides at the right time, and clean the garden in time.

The above are the main points of grape planting. You can refer to them according to the actual situation. You must master these aspects before planting grapes.
